Object Remover and AI Retouch is a consumer AI photo-editing app that lets anyone remove unwanted objects, erase backgrounds and watermarks, restore old photos, upscale image quality, and try AI looks, automatically, with no manual selection. Mobizio designed, built, and shipped it across the full Apple ecosystem: iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.
The Challenge
Most photo editors force a choice: powerful but complex (Photoshop-class tools), or simple but manual (hand-drawn erasers). The goal here was neither: deliver professional, natural-looking edits with zero skill and zero manual masking. That means the AI has to understand lighting, depth, and image structure well enough to remove a person or object and convincingly rebuild what was behind them (across unpredictable, real-world user photos) while staying fast and affordable enough to run at consumer scale.

The Engineering
The hard part of an app like this isn't the demo: it's the production AI behind it. It combines image segmentation (to detect objects and backgrounds), inpainting and generative fill (to rebuild what's removed), super-resolution (to upscale), and generative try-on (hairstyle and clothes), orchestrated through a backend that manages processing, retries, output quality, latency, and per-image cost. The whole system is engineered to run reliably and affordably across four Apple platforms, including Apple Vision Pro.
